Grass Valley Air Show
This One Fantastic Air Show is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. It also happens to be one of my favorites. When it comes to airshows. The Grass Valley Air Show is the little airshow that could. It has a decidedly more “Fly-in” feel to it than most air shows. Don’t get me wrong. They still have all of the incredible bombers, warbirds, air tankers, and stunt flying. But they also have more.
Not only will you see aircraft like the mighty P-51 and indomitable Sea Fury. As well as other classics like the indearing B-25, and venerable C-47 as well. Those are always fantastic. But the Airfest also has a host of other aircraft. Such as the “Golden Age” of flight. Those types are from the 1930s and ’40s. Along with what they call the “Nifty 50’s“. Those, of course, having been built in the 1950s.
The Airfest also features many Experimental General Aviation aircraft as well as RC aircraft and Drone racing. One more exciting part of this show. The Grass Valley Air Show is held in (wait for it) Grass Valley California. And as it turns out, The Nevada County Airport (KGOO) is the home of the CalFire and USFS Grass Valley Air Attack Base. So what does that mean for you? Well unless there is a wildfire. The bases air tanker aircraft will be on display for you to check out. In the past, they have had tanker water drops. But that is hit and miss as the aircraft are actually still on duty.
So to close out my quick little article about this One Fantastic Air Show. I’d be willing to bet that you and your family will definitely enjoy it. Now, I should also mention the Brewfest. But, since I don’t drink, I couldn’t give a very honest review of it. I will be at the Grass Valley Air Show. If you happen to see me (I’ll be wearing a green vest) be sure to say hi! Oh, and as always “Be sure to take your camera“!
